Summer is an opportune time to put our feet in the grass, soil, bodies of water, sand. No more socks and cramped shoes – time to spread the toes, feel the air and ground between them, and enjoy the simple pleasures of being barefoot.
Our feet are more important than many of us may realize. Think about it: they carry the weight of our entire body, get us from one place to the next (or at least get us to a mode of transportation that gets us around), and keep us stable when we feel off balance. The soles of our feet and our toes help us to maintain the integrity of the spine by grounding down into the floor beneath us so we can stand firmly, strongly. We’re lucky to have them, and we should treat them well.
