you are a gift
Sometimes I need only to stand where I am to be blessed.
Mary Oliver
I’ve read and heard that if we want to develop a certain part of ourselves we should surround ourselves with people who embody that quality. Similarly – we are a product of the people we spend the most time with.
With that, all I have to say is thank you. Even if we are not physically in the same room, city, or even country, the greatest birthday gift I can receive is your support and encouragement – it lifts me up and keep me going; it allows me to do the work I love, support the people I adore, and sustain my own wellbeing in the process.
For my 34th trip around the sun this year I’d like to celebrate you! I would love for you to take a moment to appreciate yourselves for showing up here because it represents your commitment to not only your health but the health of one another and the planet as a result.
There is no point in waiting or making an excuse to celebrate something or someone, nor is there any positive outcome in resisting the natural process of aging. We can find miracles and reasons to honor each moment if we choose to.
Wherever we are and whatever we’re doing: may we celebrate how far we’ve come and appreciate ourselves for the path we’re on; may we commend ourselves for being willing to get to know our hearts and the hearts of one another a little better with each passing day and year.
Have fun, have a cocktail or hot cacao, go out with friends or stay in and keep yourself good company, be good to yourself [which could mean both meditating or eating well AND bending the rules a bit], step out of your comfort zone and enjoy the ride.
As my gift to you I pledge to be honest and share my studies and experiences in yoga, nutrition, Ayurveda, meditation and wellness in ways that best support you. Reach out and tell me how I can serve you.
You are a gift just by being you, just by showing up. Remember this.
Thank you.
