Studying sustainable fashion during grad school at Academy of Art University sent me down a deep rabbit hole of eco-fying everything I possibly could in my immediate surroundings, from the brands I supported to the food I consumed to the clothes I wore to the cleaning products I chose to use in my apartment.
I had always been a nature-lover, but the more I learned about how necessary it was to care for our environment, the more I committed myself to doing everything I could, however small, to make more conscious choices.
I am often asked by clients and friends for advice on where to begin – it can seem like a daunting task, but the simple intention to make small shifts will ultimately lead toward making more earth-conscious choices on a more regular basis, even if you live in a metropolitan concrete jungle.
I have met and researched some truly incredible people, brands and companies on this personal path of living more mindfully through yoga, food, fashion, and beyond. I recently shared some insights with Arhaus.com based on our mutual passion for sustainability – their dining room tables and sectional sofas are just a few of the many products made from recycled natural resources. For example, their couches are made with organic material and eco-friendly foam – safer on the skin and air – and they have committed to not using timber from endangered forests. In partnership with American Forest Foundation, a tree is planted for every purchase made in store.
This does not necessarily mean we must invest exclusively in eco-friendly furnishings, whether budget-friendly/up-cycled or splurge-worthy/fresh new pieces, in order make a difference. Every action counts, however big or small.

What can you to today to go a little bit greener?
