ayurvedic dried fruit + nut seed spice balls

Posted: June 7, 2019 by sasha nelson

A mouth-full, literally and figuratively.

There was no measuring involved in this experiment, nor was there a blender or food processor. Paris apartments are rather tiny and minimalist, and so one does what one can…

Start with about 5-8 pieces of dried fruit, 8-10 nuts and about 1 Tbsp of sunflower seeds/oats, a dash each of spices and vanilla. Add things to taste and adjust ingredients to desired consistency.

apricot almond spice balls

dried apricots, soaked & mashed

blanched almonds, finely chopped

oat flakes, or large oats slightly diced

sunflower seeds

saffron [optional]

cinnamon spice blend [or combo of cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, ginger]

ayurvedic masala spice

vanilla

sea salt

love

date no-tella balls

dates, soaked & mashed

toasted hazelnuts, finely chopped

dark chocolate bar, finely chopped

cinnamon spice blend [or combo of cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves]

vanilla

sea salt

love

rolled in sunflower seeds

optional delicious additions

mesquite powder

unsweetened coconut shreds

*If dates are too soft: add a bit of oat flakes or almond flour

*If apricots are not sticky enough, add a small amount of tahini or coconut oil

sub seeds for nuts if nut-free, or sub more oats/oat flour

instructions

Soak dried fruit in boiled water until soft, drain the liquid & enjoy as a delightful tea if desired.

Use a fork to mash dried fruit, then add all ingredients together until combined and sticky enough to make one malleable clump.

*If you have a food processor: blitz everything together until combined.

Roll into balls [roll date balls into raw or toasted sunflower seeds] and refrigerate until solid.

Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
