A cozy beverage to warm you up for 2022 and beyond, created in collaboration with Matchaful for lovely meditation events held at their Canal St. café in NYC.
Hojicha matcha leaves are roasted which naturally decreases the level of caffeine, so the contents of one serving is less than a cup of coffee.
As someone who is highly sensitive to caffeine, I can enjoy this in the early evening without getting the effects I might have from drinking a matcha after 2pm.
A variety of clean ingredients, conscious cookbooks, and more can be found on my Amazon storefront.
sasha’s cozy hojicha matcha latte
ingredients
- 1.5 tsp Hojicha matcha tea –or– 1 tsp regular matcha powder [I always choose Matchaful]
- 1 cup steamed unsweetened almond milk [try my homemade almond milk for extra delight / sub organic whole milk]
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp coconut manna [sub tahini]
- 1/4 tsp cardamom, ground
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon, ground
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Dried rose petals / lavender to top
instructions
Bring water to just below a boil and let it cool slightly.
Steam or gently warm on the stove almond milk/milk of choice.
Blender method: Add all ingredients to a blender or Nutribullet and blitz for 10 seconds until frothy.
Traditional whisking method: Add Hojicha/matcha powder to a bowl – either sift or dry whisk the powder before adding 1-2 Tbsp warm water and whisking vigorously until combined.
Add remaining water/ingredients [except milk] and whisk until slightly frothy.
Gently add steamed milk and sprinkle with lavender/rose petals to finish.
Enjoy warm.
