racial advocacy resources

I want to do what I can, and I hope I am corrected if I get it wrong.

But I would rather do and say something than continue to watch injustice unfold.

Below are some websites + links, organizations + donations, social media posts + videos, books + articles that I have found helpful.

Thank you to all those who have inspired and educated me; who have shared and paved the path forward.

Let’s stay informed and educate one another – please feel free to share your own with me.

I’m with you and learning along the way.

interesting facts i am learning + hope to integrate

*Reference the articles and posts listed below these bullet points for further details and action steps.

BIPOC communities have less access to healthy food and health/preventative care, meaning a higher risk of disease and mortality. Let’s pay attention to where we spend our dollars [i.e. Google which corporations support organizations that perpetuate socioeconomic injustice like our current president, harmful ecological practices, homophobia, Big Pharma, etc] and support black owned businesses.

This will be an ongoing learning and un-learning process — let’s remember that so we don’t go all in now only to burn out later. Keep reading, listening, donating when you can, and checking in.

All businesses [myself included] need to make social responsibility in the form of ecological, racial, and economic justice as part of their platforms — including ways in which we can support/integrate BIPOC communities/employers and contribute to the health of the planet at large [see the first bullet point]. Let’s do our best to bring it up when we see otherwise.

Start with the youth: set an example, have conversations, hire BIPOC teachers and include diversity trainings in schools [not to mention all training programs — especially for adult teachers and coaches].

Create offerings/programs/products that can be physically and financially accessible to marginalized communities so there are equal opportunities to participate in, whatever it is you or your company offers. I was myself inspired to create a diversity scholarship/sliding scale.

Hold each other accountable — call it out when we see it, study our Selves and the system, and move forward with more awareness.
