You can’t solve anything with a dysregulated nervous system! (+ books, tunes, eats, etc)
Summer started with a bit of a plot twist for me—at first it took me down, but I know that’s sometimes how humans learn, grow, reboot, and rebuild. I couldn’t have articulated that for a few weeks, but deep down I knew it to be true.
Those wacky periods are when I’m reminded of how important my mind-body wellbeing tools are, because that’s when they’re really put to the test. Even though I honestly tossed the tools into the Mediterranean Sea for a bit, the majority of them were still engrained in me like a supportive undercurrent—either running on autopilot or waiting patiently for me to resurface.
And the tools aren’t always what one would place in the category of Wellness, although they all play supporting roles in their own ways. That just goes to show that health, wellness, and nourishment can look and feel different for everyone at different times. Laughter might feel more rejuvenating than vegetables today, and that’s not wrong 🙂
Voilà—here’s my personal mind-body wellbeing roundup for summer so far, for what it’s worth. Let it inspire and encourage you to care for your own physical and mental/emotional health in ways that nourish and work well for you.

Reflecting
Presence can help dissolve stress from both past and future. A therapist I’ve been seeing reminded me of this simple yet profound mindfulness concept.
You can’t solve anything when your nervous system is dysregulated. After an unexpected series of events, the same therapist suggested I step back from trying to solve and plan in order to gain a calmer perspective. Not easy for me, but relieving.
Eating + Supplementing
Cold (not iced!) matcha latte. Matchaful + unsweetened almond or coconut milk + dash of vanilla + cinnamon + honey or maple syrup. A go-to morning beverage.
Electrolytes. They help me feel quenched after long flights, hot days, and shifts from humid to dry air. I always search for products with clean ingredients and flavorings.
Simple Mills crackers & Siete chips. I stock up whenever I visit California for a lil’ apéro or as part of my lunch with goat cheese, guac, or hummus. Simple yet so tasty.
Triphala. Helps with stubborn intestines after travels or stress. I’ve also used the powder form dissolve in a bit of water in the morning or before bed.
Moving + Mindful-ing
Diversified movement. A blend of yoga, light weights, simple swims, and walks of varying lengths and intensities helped with recent sciatic pain and jet lag.
Silva Method. I’ve been doing a version of Silva-inspired visualizations every morning for months and have felt the difference when I start my day in a more connected way.
Softening my chest. After unforeseen events, I noticed I carry anxiety here. I’ve been consciously trying to deflate before I eat, in conversation, and when making decisions.
Yoga. When I’m not taking Nikki’s online Iyengar classes, I put on a podcast or keep it silent and roll around on my mat. Literally always something new to learn and explore.
